Janice Cunning, Fundraising Coach

Janice Cunning is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) trained by the Coaches Training Institute (CTI). She combines her coaching skills with 17 years of experience as a fundraising consultant and researcher. Previously Janice was a Senior Consultant at KCI, Canada’s largest fundraising consulting firm. In this role, she provided coaching to leading university prospect research departments with a focus on strategic planning, teamwork, and communication. Within the firm she led strategic planning retreats and monthly meetings that focused on innovation and continued improvement to client services.

As a coach and fundraiser, Janice is passionate about partnering with fundraisers to help them create an inspired vision that transforms lives. She works with clients to:

  • increase awareness about their values and strengths
  • focus on leading rather than managing
  • undertake work that has the highest impact on their organization’s mission
  • empower their teams through delegation and prioritization, and
  • choose the right work / life balance that energizes them.

Janice has coached senior fundraising leaders at institutions across North America including Oklahoma State University Foundation, University of Southern California, University of Florida, Occidental College, University of Rochester, University of Toronto, York University, and United Way Toronto & York Region. Additionally Janice has worked with fundraising teams at the YMCA of Greater Toronto, United Way Toronto & York Region, Toronto General and Western Hospital Foundation, and Camp Oochigeas.

In addition to her coaching certification, Janice earned a BA in History from Trent University and a Master of Library Science from the University of Toronto.

An active volunteer, Janice was a founding director of APRA-Canada and the second international member to serve on the international APRA board. Recently Janice served the coaching community as Vice President and Secretary for the International Coach Federation – Toronto Chapter. She is currently acting as a mentor for graduates of CTI’s Leadership Program.
